GRAND DESIGNS MODERN OPEN PLAN KITCHEN
The site for this kitchen was a new-build in Bath. Johnny met the client at a House & Garden reader event on kitchen planning.
She had just bought a plot of land on a hill overlooking the Georgian city and as soon as initial plans for the house had been drawn up we made our design contribution with this kitchen.
The project was featured an episode of Grand Designs in 2008. Kevin McCloud described the kitchen as ‘very delightful and something of a statement’. He liked the way the curves contrasted with the linearity of the house. This does indeed work well.
Kevin and Johnny have stayed in touch and it was at a Grand Designs Live debate that the idea of a kitchen design degree course was first mooted. Johnny is now Visiting Professor of Kitchen Design at Bucks New University, teaching this course.
