Architecture

No matter how big the house, most people are still short of space... initially. We can usually find space by either re-cycling unnecessary corridors inside or by looking at the capacity of the garden for absorbing an extension.

We are happy to work with your architect but we do have an architectural sister company 'Jollands & Grey' that can handle any element of your project from a simple extension to a whole new house.

Johnny Grey Design Art

Design Art

We can extend the potential of design by bringing in artistic skills. Furniture can be thought of as sculpture whilst painters can add atmosphere, texture and colour. Our method is to create a collection of furniture and visual elements that work together as a serenade of objects: simple cabinets can provide a backdrop to richer pieces;

antiques might be placed between storage cupboards; an island might be more like a sculpture than a conventional rectangular box. What is missing from many new kitchens is a relaxed sense of fun, quirky appeal with function taken for granted.

Johnny Grey Ergonomics and flow

Ergonomics and flow

Thoughtful design is vital for highly used spaces. Because a proper sense of flow allows everyone to feel there is space to move about freely and reach whatever they need, we avoid sharp corners on central islands, peninsulas and other objects that sit or jut into the centre of the room.

The curves you see in our furniture are generated from ergonomics initially and then turned into beautiful shapes that appeal to the eye.
